El Mirage is one of the older communities in the West Valley, built by farmworker families along the Agua Fria and still carrying that working, close-knit character through decades of growth around it. The housing runs from postwar ranch homes with real bones to newer subdivisions on the edges, and a lot of El Mirage families have been in the same house for a very long time.
