Carefree earned its name honestly. Street signs read Easy Street and Ho Hum Drive, the town center is built around a ninety-foot sundial that's been keeping time since 1959, and the whole place is arranged around desert gardens rather than the other way around. It's small, it's deliberate, and it has resisted every temptation to become something louder.
Homes here sit on generous desert lots with landscaping that grows right up against the equipment, which is the single most common reason a Carefree condenser struggles in July.
