Sun City West was Del Webb's follow-up, built on eleven thousand acres just west of the original starting in 1978 and finished out in 1997. Roughly seventeen thousand homes, four recreation centers, seven golf courses and more than ninety chartered clubs — and unlike most communities this size, the residents own and run the amenities themselves through a nonprofit. That ownership shows in how the place is kept.
